Dorsal soft rays (total): 85 - 94; Anal soft rays: 64 - 69; Vertebrae: 35 - 36. This species is distinguished by the following characters: caudal fin without the black blotches; the ocular-side pectoral fin with greatly elongate filament in both sexes; gill rakers are not serrate; upper jaw teeth biserial (Ref. 126076).
Description. D 85-94, A 64-69, pectoral-fin rays on ocular side 10-12, on blind-side 9-11, caudal-fin rays 3 + 11 + 3; pelvic-fin rays on ocular-side 6, on blind-side 6, lateral line scales 44-48, gill rakers 0-3 + 8-11, vertebrae 10 + 25-26 (Ref. 126076).
Cross section: flattened.
Inhabits sand and mud bottoms.
