Biología     Glosario (por ej. epibenthic)

Occurs in large rivers, canal, oxbows and floodplains. Microphagous, feeds mainly on phytoplankton and periphyton with lesser amounts of bottom algae and small zooplankton. Migrates for spawning to the floodplains when water level is high. Young of the year are caught as they begin to return to the rivers in October. In the Tonle Sap, adults make nearly all of the October catch, with larger and larger proportions of young in subsequent months. Use to make prahoc and nuoc mam (Ref. 12693).
