Dorsal spines (total): 12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 21; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 21. Head with well-developed cirri; mandibular cirrus multifold; preopercular canal pores with cirri. Supratemporal canal with 3 pores. A pale-blue, broad stripe extending from snout to base of causal fin. Operculum and caudal fin base with a dark blue spot.
Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114). Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters (Ref. 94114). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
