With 7-8 narrow stripes along the body; sometimes with a slightly dusky spot at base of caudal fin; 11-12 predorsal scales; 5-6 + 16-19 gill rakers on first arch (Ref. 12693).
Occurs at bottom depths in large and medium-sized streams. Probably feeds on periphyton and phytoplankton like other species of this genus. Probably used to make pharos (Ref. 12693).
