Vertebrae usually 26. Palatine teeth present. Anguloarticular lateralis canal absent. Males with a black blotch anteriorly in dorsal fin. Stripes on side of head absent. Body color uniform or with weak reticulate pattern formed by dark scale margins; no vertical bars; no caudal, cleithral or opercular blotches (Ref. 46238).
Collected from a small stream, wider than 2 m, about 30 cm deep, with relatively fast current, running through an open cultured area. Bottom composed of substrate rock, sand, leaf litter and mud (Ref. 46238).
