Etymology: Microphis: Greek, mikros = small + greek, ophis = serpent (Ref. 45335)nicoleae: Named for the first author’s grandmother, Nicole, V.H. would like to thank her for the interest that she has always shown for his work, as well as for her kindness during many years.

Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt) : 34 - 38. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: pectoral fin rays 16-19; dorsal fin rays 36-38; tail rings 28-30 ; subdorsal tail rings 7.5-9.5 (Ref. 132364).

Biologie     Fachlexikon (Englisch) (z.B. epibenthic)

Found and caught in rivers where specimens occur on rocky substrate with pebbles. The water was clear and well-oxygenated, the river banks were covered with vegetation and the water was shaded and kept fresh by the the presence of trees (Ref. 132364).
