This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: complete lack of pigmentation on the body; maxillary teeth in slightly irregular series 13-21; dentary teeth 18-26; single postcleithrum present; two infraorbitals present, Ios 1+2; anal-fin rays 21-26; branched pelvic-fin rays 5; claustrum absent; adipose fin absent; anal-fin base 32-38; caudal peduncle 13-19 (Ref. 133463).
