Etymology: Schindleria: Named for ichthyologist Otto Schindler, 1906-1959 (Prof. Dr. Konrad Schindler, pers. comm Dec. 2017); qizma: Name 'qizma from the Arabic word ‘qizm’ (مزق), meaning 'dwarf', in reference to the small size of the new species. A noun in apposition.
