During the dry season most of the rocks are exposed, and many pools are formed where the fishes are trapped and easily collected with rotenone. Stomach analyses of five specimens (19-24 mm) from rapids showed that aquatic invertebrates were the most important food items consumed by this species; rhizopods were the dominant item, followed by sponges and cladocerans.
