Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 18 - 20; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 20 - 22. Body slender. Five rows of pigmented areas dorsal to the lateral row of large photophores. Black to dark brown, sides iridescent, fins pale. Barbel pale, bulb yellowish, filaments pale (Ref. 37473).
An oceanic (Ref. 4783) and mesopelagic species (Ref. 4464). May migrate to near-surface waters at night (Ref. 4783). Feeds on midwater fishes and crustaceans (Ref. 4783).
