Lateral line strongly curved midway and runs long with a silvery mid-lateral band. Lower margin of interoperculum with a single spine.
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal; Cross section: compressed.
Adults occur in brackish mangrove estuaries and lower reaches of freshwater streams (Ref. 2847, 37816). Probably feed on small insects, crustaceans and other invertebrates. Not seen in markets (Ref. 12693).
