Africa: Central African Republic (Kadei and Ubangi drainages of the middle Congo River basin), southeastern and eastern Republic of Congo (Djoué River and right bank tributaries of the middle Congo basin) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (Pool Malebo to "Portes d'Enfer" waterfalls) (Ref. 47774).

Not a seasonal killifish. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
