Etymology: Mylochromis: Greek, mylo = mill + Greek, chromis = a fish without identification, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335).

Prefers shallow sandy areas with the bottom covered partly with small rocks and pebbles. Feeds by turning small stones and checking what is underneath (Ref. 5595).
