Épines dorsales (Total): 1; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 6; Rayons mous anaux: 21 - 22; Vertèbres: 37 - 38. Presence of serrae on distal three quarters of anterior edge of pectoral spine; body depth at anus 19.2-19.4% SL; black margin of dorsal fin present; eye diameter 19.7-22.7% HL; and length of adipose-fin base 15.6-15.7% SL.

Inhabits peat and streams (Ref. 84801). Occasionally seen in aquarium trades (Ref. 57235).
