Anterior nostril with a pointed tip reaching anterior margin of eye; incomplete lateral line reaching anus; 8 1/2 branched dorsal rays; 8+8 branched caudal rays (Ref. 39226). Caudal fin emarginate (Ref. 39226). Dorsal fin origin above or slightly behind pelvic-fin insertion (Ref. 12693).
Inhabits rivers with sand or gravel bottoms (Ref. 12693). Found over gravel in shallow water, with moderate current (Ref. 27732). Feeds on insect larvae (Ref. 39226).
