背棘 (总数) : 3; 背的软条 (总数) : 7 - 8; 臀棘: 3; 臀鳍软条: 8 - 10; 脊椎骨: 34 - 36. The only species of the genus in Lesbos Islands and southwestern Turkey which can be differentiated from Petroleuciscus borysthenicus by having the following characters: dorsal fin with 7½ branched rays; anal fin usually with 8½ branched rays; iris whitish; lateral line with 32-35 scales; posterior margin of anal fin straight or slightly concave; free margin of each flank with black pigments (Ref. 59043).
Inhabits slow-flowing to standing water (Ref. 59043).
