Etymology: Rineloricaria: Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather; 1706 (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Eduard Konopicky (1841–1904) was Steindachner’s scientific illustrator. David Starr Jordan described him (1905) as having produced “the best illustrations of fishes made by any artist.” (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
