পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 17; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 7-8; পায়ূ কাঁটা 3; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 8; কশেরুকা : 26. Distinguished from all other cichlids by its color pattern and its short, low vertical fins. Presence of a series of 8 dark vertical markings, the anteriormost through the eye, the fourth from anteriormost bearing a large midlateral blotch; the fins are immaculate (Ref. 26742).
