पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण): 6 - 7; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण): 7-8; गुदा कांटा 1; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 7 - 9; जानवरों की रीड़ का जोड़: 26. Body with distinct dark oblique shoulder bar, scale margins rimmed with narrow dark line forming reticulate pattern usually overlaid by narrow dark bars and dorsal saddles; 2 dark spot at caudal base (Ref. 43716). Longitudinal scales 29-33; TRB 9-12; predorsal scales 12-19, small, reaching to above preopercular margin; scales on body mostly ctenoid; first dorsal spine white and always longest, often filamentous (Ref. 43716). Caudal fin rounded to oval (Ref. 43716).
Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Inhabits shallow, relatively still, brackish to freshwater creek habitats (Ref. 43716).
