Etymology: Argentina: Latin, argentus = silver (Ref. 45335); georgei: Named for George Clipper who provided efficient assistance to the authors of this species (Ref. 40914).
Eponymy: George E Clipper was a technician in charge of x-raying fishes and reading the resultant radiographs at Bureau of Commercial Fisheries Systematics Laboratory, USNM. The authors expressed their gratitude for his ‘efficient assistance’. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
