Etymology: Apareiodon: Greek, a = without + Greek, pareia, -as = cheek + Greek, odous = teeth (Ref. 45335); argenteus: Named for the silvery (= 'argenteus'), longitudinal stripe under the dark mid-lateral stripe.

Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 11 - 12; Raggi anali molli: 7 - 8. Narrow vertical dark bars above midlateral stripe never inclined nor joined together dorsally, sometimes triangular. Body height 1.3-1.6 (1.5) times in distance between pelvic fin insertion and anal fin origin (Ref. 47883).
