Dorsale stekels (totaal) : 6 - 7; Dorsale zachte stralen (totaal) : 10; Anale stekels: 1; Anale zachte stralen: 9. Characterized by: male with very tall, sail-like first dorsal fin, head and body with scattered blue spots; female lack tall dorsal fin; united pelvic fins, frenum present; longitudinal scale series 53-61; head without scales; greatest depth of body 5.8-6.3 in SL; rounded caudal fin, longer than head length (Ref. 90102).
