This species is distinct in having the following set of characters: nostrils are positioned midway between snout tip and anterior margin of eye; interorbital space is wide, its width 29.5 (26.5-33.1)% HL; A ii, 4.5-5; long adipose fin, uniformly deep all along its length and reaches to caudal fin base; adipose about thrice the dorsal fin base length; emarginate caudal fin; proximally 1/3 length of outer rays and 1/2 length of median rays are dark greyish and distally 1/3 length of lower lobe and 1/3 length of upper lobe rays are also dark greyish (Ref. 78436)
