Etymology: Rineloricaria: Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather; 1706 (Ref. 45335); osvaldoi: The name of the new species is given in honor of Dr. Osvaldo Takeshi Oyakawa, the collection manager of the fish collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo and also a specialist of the Loricariinae, particularly of the genus Hart.
Eponymy: Dr Osvaldo Takeshi Oyakawa is a marine biologist and limnologist at the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo where his doctorate was awarded (1998). [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
