Basal one-third of first dorsal-fin spine much less darker than distal portion. Postorbital distance (eye to upper end of gill opening) short (5.2 to 6.8% SL), slightly more than 1/2 diameter of orbit. Snout long (21.2 to 27.7% SL), distinctly concave and much compressed anteriorly (Ref 9804).
Inhabits sandy and muddy flats of coastal waters. Feeds on benthic invertebrates. Marketed fresh.
