Etymology: Rivulus: Latin, rivus = stream (Ref. 45335); xi: The Greek 'xi' refers to 14th letter of the alphabet. The specific name alludes to the unique x-markings on the sides of the male. This species was distributed among hobbyists under the field code: COL 2008-23, Rivulus species.
