Etymology: Plectranthias: Greek, plektron = anyhting to strike with, spur + Greek, anthias = a fish, Sparus aurata (Ref. 45335).

পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ) : 10; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ) : 15 - 16; পায়ূ কাঁটা : 3; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 7; কশেরুকা : 26. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D X,15-16; pectoral rays 15; lateral line complete with 32-34 tubed scales; no antrorse serrations on lower edge of preopercle; scales with basal cteni; melanophores on caudal peduncle form a bar that extends to ventral margin of peduncle (Ref. 123579).
