Etymology: Diplecogaster: Greek, di = two + Greek, pleko = plait, pigtail (Ref. 45335); roseioculus: Name from Latin 'roseus' meaning rose and 'oculus for eye; referring to the pink eyes of the new species; an adjective.

পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ) : 7; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 7. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D 7, A 7, pectoral-fin rays 29, caudal-fin rays 17; gill rakers on 3rd arch 12; head width 4.9 in SL; orbit diameter 3.0 in HL; snout is short and bluntly rounded; disc length 5.2 in SL; disc with 2 rows of papillae in region A, 5 rows in region B, and 1 row in region C; no lateral papillae in disc region A; anus is closer to anal fin than disc; sides of body with 6 vertical bars (Ref. 128876).
