Etymology: Cambeva: Probably derived from the Tupi-Guarani, is a popular name for trichomycterid fishes in southern and south-eastern Brazil (Ref. 119381); podostemophila: Name 'podostemophila' from the contraction of Podostemon, the genus its associated with, plus the Greek suffix 'phila', used to express attraction for something.
