Épines dorsales (Total) : 2. Diagnosis: caudal peduncle relatively long, its depth a little larger than horizontal distance between the base of adipose and caudal fins (but almost never twice as great); pectoral spine smooth on its anterior margin, except for a few serrations near the tip; preorbital head length less than maximum head depth; color pattern on flank strongly marked in most cases; adipose fin height 3-7% SL, dorsal fin height 15-25% (28%) SL), head depth 56-88% head width; barbels relatively short, e.g. external mandibular barbel usually shorter than 1.3 times HL, never reaching beyond tip of pectoral spine (Ref. 81642).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5020   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00525 (0.00221 - 0.01248), b=3.09 (2.87 - 3.31), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Niveau trophique (Ref. 69278):  3.7   ±0.6 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Résilience (Ref. 120179):  Milieu, temps minimum de doublement de population : 1,4 à 4,4 années (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low to moderate vulnerability (29 of 100).
